ONAPE and UBA Chad launch the 2020 edition of the TEF entrepreneurship program

In partnership with UBA Chad, ONAPE announces the opening of applications for the 2020 edition of the Tony Elumelu Foundation's entrepreneurship program.

The 2020 edition of the Tony Elumelu Foundation's entrepreneurship program is launched. Unlike previous years, the 2020 edition on behalf of Chad is launched by the National Office for the Promotion of Employment (ONAPE) in partnership with UBA Chad.

According to the Director General of ONAPE, Sadick Brahim Dicko, his institution's involvement in this program is explained by the fact that the two institutions (ONAPE and Tony Elumelu Foundation) originally promote entrepreneurship.

In its configuration, ONAPE has the mission to materialize the government's employment policy. The institution has therefore implemented three programmes for the benefit of job seekers with the objectives of promoting self-employment and fighting against unemployment.

Created in 2010, the Tony Elumelu Foundation also makes youth entrepreneurship its priority. In six years, through its entrepreneurship program, the Foundation financed 9,631 start-ups and small businesses in 54 African countries. Among these beneficiaries, 317 Chadians received seed capital of 5,000 US dollars to start their businesses. A total of 100 million dollar has been disbursed by the Foundation to the young entrepreneurs’ project to create 10,000 business projects over 10 years.

For the 2020 edition, the Director General of UBA Chad (partner of the Tony Elumelu Foundation), Noubasra Natolban, hopes that at least 1,000 Chadians will win. "Chadian Youth, an opportunity is offered to you to have a non-refundable 5,000 US dollars to turn your project ideas into businesses. Seize it", encourages Noubasra Natolban. For its part, ONAPE intends to put its competent services at the disposal of the candidates to provide further information for their projects’ implementation.

Applications are made via the www.tefconnect.com platform. The programme has been open since 1st January and will end in March. It is open to all young entrepreneurs from the 54 African countries.
