Tunisia: The Minister of Vocational Training and Employment meets the Executive Secretariat’s Consultants from the World Association of Public Employment Services

Within the framework of an international conference’s preparation under the theme "Public Employment Services and civil society, a participatory approach for improving the employability of the jobseeker", and on the occasion of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the National Agency for Employment and Independent Labour (ANETI), Mr. Imed HAMMAMI, Minister of Vocational Training welcomed Mrs. Christine MALECKA VLERIK , Consultant from WAPES Executive Secretariat, who was accompanied by Mr. Abdelkrim BELKADI, Consultant for Middle East and Arab Region.

 

This conference, which will take place on 9 and 10 May, will aim to exchange good practices between member countries of the World Association of Public Employment Services on issues related to partnerships between public services and all components of civil society to improve job seekers’ employability.

 

WAPES members’ representatives, international partners’ representatives, NGOs, international associations, consular representations and representatives of civil society will participate in this event.

 

During this interview, the Minister emphasized the importance of developing cooperative relations with international partners in the fields of vocational training and employment, especially with WAPES, and exploring possibilities offered for experience and expertise’s exchange.

 

The aim is to create a new dynamics to strengthen employment services both at central and regional level in order to improve services level provided to job seekers, in particular concerning information, guidance, development of their skills and facilitating their integration into working life.

 

The Minister also outlined the strategic orientations of the Government of National Unity, which focus on strengthening Tunisia's positioning at the African, Euro-Mediterranean and international levels.

 

For her part, Mrs. Christine MALECKA VLERICK expressed WAPES’ willingness to support ANETI in the reform and partnership It has started, particularly in the field of vocational training and employment.

 

She has also emphasized the support that WAPES could provide in order that this international conference could be a success in line with expectations.
