I joined the Department for Work and Pensions 6 months ago as part of a year-long development scheme to gain practical experience in policymaking alongside my degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at the University of Sheffield. Following my placement in the Department for Work and Pensions, I aim to join the Civil Service policy profession, working in teams with a focus on international engagement.

I have been a part of the Department for Work and Pensions, the United Kingdom’s primary public employment service agent, for 23 years. My career began as a benefit processor, where I developed an interest in direct customer engagement. This led to a transition into frontline operations, where I held various customer-facing roles for approximately ten years. Subsequently, I spent another decade in roles related to the contract management of private organisations responsible for outsourced labour market provision. In 2021, I moved into my current position within the International Relationships Team, where I am responsible for identifying opportunities for collaboration with nations worldwide, including those available through the World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES) network.
