WAPES contribution to the 1st meeting of the G7 Employment Working Group (8 February 2023): The new WAPES (G7) Working Group Changing Labour Markets
On 8-9 February 2023, the Japanese G7 Presidency held the 1st meeting of the Ministerial G7 Employment Working Group to discuss the implications of structural changes for labour market policies (digital and green transitions, inclusive labour markets in times of demographic change) with OECD, ILO and relevant stakeholders.
Susanne Kraatz and Eve-Marie Mosseray participated to introduce the work of the World Association of Public Employment Services as global cooperation structure for Public Employment Services and the new WAPES G7 Working Group Changing Labour Markets (see WAPES news item of 2 February 2023).
The WAPES G7 Working Group is preparing a Communication “PES and greening labour markets” including the following aspects:
o Strategic development in the area of green transition
o Definition of “green skills” in PES for job matching and designing training measures
o Adjusting services for jobseekers and employers
o Up- and reskilling jobseekers
o Important partnerships to involve relevant stakeholders
The Communication will comprise a collection of good practices including also measures relating to PES buildings. It will conclude with challenges ahead for the G7 PES complementing the work of the G7 Employment Working Group.
