6th training session for Public Employment Service (PES)

Employment Advisors from French-speaking Africa kicks off in Yaoundé, Cameroon, thanks to collaboration between the Association Africaine des Services d’Emploi Publics (AASEP), the Fonds National de l’Emploi du Cameroun (FNE Cameroun), the Agence Nationale pour l’Emploi (ANPE) from Mali and the World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES).

33 participants from 12 countries (Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Republic of Congo and Togo) will meet from September 11 to 21, 2023 to build their capacity as Employment Advisors in their relations with companies, in line with labor market requirements for effective intermediation.

The training is designed and run by a team of experienced trainers: Ms Françoise Belinga Bibi from Cameroon, Mr Abdoulaye N’Daye from Mali and Mr Thierry Huort, a WAPES consultant. A participative approach is favored, with participants making an active contribution through exchanges, experience sharing and the collective search for courses of action, the implementation of which will be evaluated and capitalized on through a skills certification scheme.

The opening ceremony took place on September 12, 2023 at the Mansel Hotel in Yaoundé, in the presence of Mr. Camille Mouté à Bidias, Honorary President of WAPES and Managing Director of Cameroon’s Fonds National de l’Emploi (FNE), Mr. Lacina Diabaté, Deputy Managing Director of Mali’s ANPE, representing the WAPES Vice President for the Africa Region, Mr. Ibrahim Ag Nock, Director of WAPES and Director of WAPES in Mali. Ibrahim Ag Nock, Managing Director of ANPE in Mali, Mr. Abdallah Chidi Djorkodei, Managing Director of ONAPE in Chad, and Mr. Edou Séverin Roland from the Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training, as well as numerous representatives of civil society.

The event is coordinated locally by Mr Sidibé Bréhima, Head of the Migration and Cooperation Department at ANPE in Mali, and Mr William Basile Mvondo Etoundi, Head of FNE’s International Cooperation Unit.
