WAPES shares its expertise at ITCILO
On June 19 and 20 in Turin, Ms. Minako TAKASAKI, Project Coordinator of the WAPES was invited as one of the lecturers to the ITCILO training course “Shaping and managing effective employment services”.
About 20 participants with managerial positions in the Labour Ministry, Public Employment Agency, PESO, NPO, and trade unions, from African, Asian, and European countries, participated and discussed a range of views on PES, such as services to job seekers and employers, Human Resources, and Management and leaderships in various situations.
During the two modules, she made presentations on “Digital strategy of PES in Japan” and “Introduction of WAPES activities”.
Digital strategy of PES
Anna-Karin Palm Olsson from the ILO led the session.
Her lecture covered a range of topics from the basic needs of the Digital strategy of PES to the latest trials and utilizations of AI in vocational counseling at PESO in advanced countries.
She explained the fundamental utilization of digital tools in the PESO (Hello Work) network in Japan, as well as the latest research and trials for introducing AI into PESO.
During discussions, participants expressed interest in the digitalization of LMI (Labour Market Information) and the effective utilization of digital tools in job matching, as well as protecting privacy, and explored topics related to AI, focusing on ILO Convention 88.
Introduction of WAPES activities
Thanks to Rute Mendes from ITCILO and François Dumora from the ILO, an active discussion on WAPES’s future activities was realized following Minako’s presentation on the introduction of WAPES.
Fortunately, the WAPES was well-known to all participants, and beneficial opinions and fruitful discussions were shared by participants from not only WAPES member countries but also prospective member countries for over 20 minutes. In brief, it is expected that WAPES has served as an information hub and platform where member countries can mutually discuss and share information on PES.
