Creation of the G7 Working Group on Public Employment Services and Demographic Change

Brussels, 05th of June, 2024

WAPES is delighted to announce the formation of a G7 Working Group comprising our esteemed members from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Italy, and France. This collaborative initiative will focus on the critical interplay between Public Employment Services and the ongoing demographic changes in our societies. The group will work meticulously on a comprehensive publication addressing these topics.

Key Focus Areas of the G7 Working Group

The G7 Working Group will focus on examining and addressing the impact of demographic changes on Public Employment Services. This includes analysing existing policies, comparing organizational setups across G7 countries, and providing data and reflections on demographic shifts. The group will also delve into specific areas such as the role of technology and automation, promoting inclusive labour markets for aging populations, addressing skill mismatches, supporting youth employment, and promoting gender equality in employment. Additionally, optional discussions may explore the role of entrepreneurship or strategies for labour migration.

Stay Tuned for More Updates!

WAPES invites all stakeholders to stay informed as we continue to share updates on this important initiative. The collaborative efforts of our G7 members will yield valuable insights and strategies that will help shape the future of Public Employment Services in response to demographic changes.
