Ms Maria Hemström Hemmingsson appointed new Director-General of Arbetsförmedlingen

Arbetsförmedlingen, the Swedish Public Employment Service, is set to welcome Ms Maria Hemström Hemmingsson as its new Director-General, announced Mr. Johan Pehrson, Minister for Employment and Integration, at a press conference on Friday.
Ms. Hemström Hemmingsson, who previously held the position of Director General at the Institute for Labour Market and Education Policy Evaluation (IFAU), brings with her extensive experience in labor market issues and leadership roles within various government agencies.
Maria Hemström Hemmingsson’s diverse career includes roles as a researcher, ministerial adviser, principal secretary of the Delegation for Gender Equality in Working Life, director general of The Swedish Social Insurance Inspectorate, and acting director general of Försäkringskassan, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the upcoming challenge, Ms. Hemström Hemmingsson stated, “I am very pleased to be entrusted with leading Arbetsförmedlingen forward, not because it is easy but because it is important. I look forward to working with this.”
The new Director-General is scheduled to assume office on 1 March.
