ENLARGED AASEP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING IN GENEVA

On the sidelines of the 113th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, the enlarged executive committee of AASEP met on Tuesday morning 3 June 2025 at the APPART’CITY hotel in Geneva under the chairmanship of Mr Camille Mouté ABIDIAS, Honorary President of AASEP.

A number of important issues were on the agenda at the 5th session of the enlarged AASEP Executive Committee.
These included the adoption of the association’s amended statutes; the operationalisation of the Permanent Secretariat, based in Yaoundé (Cameroon), and of the Regional Academy of Public Employment Services, based in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire); the appointment of the Treasurer and the Auditor; and the organisation of the 7th training session for AASEP Employment Advisers, to be held in September.

At the opening of the meeting, Minister Oumou SALL SECK, in a pre-recorded speech, expressed her sincere thanks to the Swiss authorities for their warm welcome and the excellent conditions made available for this important meeting.

She also praised the leadership of the President of AASEP, as well as the constant commitment of all the members to the revitalisation of our African network of public employment services.

In terms of the progress made by the Malian government, she said: “My department is carrying out several major reforms to adapt our services to the demands of the labour market, while promoting inclusive entrepreneurship and quality vocational training.

We have undertaken the renovation and construction of vocational training centres throughout the country, launched a rapid impact programme to boost the employability of young people, and implemented an innovative financing mechanism for SMEs via a guarantee fund”.

In conclusion, she wished the conference every success, in the hope that it would produce concrete recommendations that would bring hope to young Africans.

In his speech, Honorary President Camille Mouté Abidias, Director General of the National Employment Fund of Cameroon, renewed his confidence in Director General Ibrahim Ag NOCK for the renewal of his mandate at the head of the African Association of Public Employment Services, before thanking the Minister for National Entrepreneurship, Employment and Vocational Training for agreeing to open the 5th enlarged committee of AASEP in the presence of 12 African states.
The Honorary President also outlined the history of the birth of the association, which has made enormous progress in terms of innovation, with major projects and training programmes including the Boulevard Africain de l’Intermédiation (BAI) and the training of employment advisers.

In conclusion, he paid tribute to the Malian authorities, who continue to fight on a daily basis for more job creation and the development of young people.

AASEP President Ibrahim Ag NOCK thanked the government for its constant support, which has enabled him to lead this dynamic association for three successive terms.

He then led the work of this committee until the agenda was exhausted.
All the documents submitted were unanimously adopted, subject to a few corrections.
Important recommendations were formulated which take into account the future of this prestigious Association.
