Improving human resources in PES: the preparatory meeting for the 6th training session for Employment Advisors gets underway in Yaoundé (Cameroon).
The preparatory meeting for the 6th training session for Public Employment Service (PES) Employment Counsellors in the WAPES Africa Region opened yesterday, Tuesday July 11, 2023, in the conference room of the Fonds National de l’Emploi (FNE). The opening ceremony was chaired by Mr Léopold NGOMEZOO, Technical Advisor to the Managing Director of FNE, in the presence of Mr Bréhima N Sidibé, representing the President of AASEP, and Mr Ibrahim Ag Nock, Managing Director of ANPE Mali.
In his welcome address, CT3 of the FNE welcomed this ceremony, which marks the official launch of the preparatory work for the 6th training course for Employment Advisors from PES members of the World Association of Public Employment Services in Sub-Saharan Africa. IHe recalled the importance of this session, which focuses on “the Employment Advisor and the company relationship, an essential lever for effective intermediation”. Indeed, he said that the company relationship was a permanent challenge for the PES, in that it not only conditons the effectiveness of intermediation through professional insertion at the end, but is also the key to the performance of the PES in its mission to promote employment. Hence the importance of this meeting, which will enable us to better prepare the training session and make it a success. On behalf of the Managing Director of FNE, Mr Camille Mouté à Bidias, who is also Honorary President of AMSEP, Mr NGOMEZOO invited the dozen or so participants from Mali, Cameroon and the AMSEP Executive Secretariat in Brussels, to be more assiduous if they were to achieve their objectives. With that, he declared the meeting open.
The previous day, Monday July 10, 2023, the representative of the President of AASEP had paid a courtesy call on the Director General of FNE, Mr Camille Mouté in Bidias, to whom he conveyed the warm and fraternal greetings of the Director General of ANPE Mali, Mr Ibrahim Ag Nock. He took the opportunity to present his host with a gift from his younger brother, in recognition of all his efforts on behalf of public employment services worldwide, and in Africa in particular.
Deeply moved by this gesture, the dean of Africa’s PES CEOs warmly thanked the President of AASEP for all the attention and consideration he had always shown him. He also congratulated the new Minister for Entrepreneurship and Employment, Ms Bagayoko Aminata Traoré, recently appointed in Mali’s latest government reshuffle.
It should be noted that the preparatory meeting is being held over 3 days (11, 12, 13) and its agenda covers all aspects linked to the organization of the 6th training session for Employment Advisors scheduled to take place in Yaoundé from September 11 to 20. It is one of the 2 main activities scheduled in the Africa Region for 2023, along with the inter-regional conference to be held in Conakry, Guinea.
